Sean Connolly's Blog

Ex Soldier and Author. I was just sixteen years old when I joined the Army and stayed for fifteen years - half my life was given to this band of brothers but in truth it was my whole life. British Army on the Rampage is a seies of autobiographical novels that tell it how it was - warts and all. I wasn't in the SAS, I don't think I killed many people and if I did it was an accident. These are just the stories of a hell of a good time with real friends and comrades and the life we llived, the pranks we got up to and the friendships formed. I make no apologies for the fact that these memoirs are humourous because all in all I had one hell of an outrageously good time. And if war is a serious business at least we had a lot of laughs on the way...

For anyone who has been asleep for the last year I've been doing a series of book signings in local supermarkets to raise money for Royal British Legion Byng House here in Southport. My last event is this Saturday 12th July at Morrison's, Winter Gardens, Southport PR8 1RH from 10am until late afternoon. Pop along and get a signed copy of BOAR, support a great cause, have a chinwag, and do your shopping all at the same time. Details can be found HERE.

NOW THEN - LISTEN UP! 38 Battery reunion always falls on the Armed Forces Weekend which is always end of June. This year the Armynovels team complete with hangover set up shop on the green at Woolaton Park, Nottingham. Our lateness on Saturday 28th June was due to transport problems. We couldn’t transport ourselves out of bed.... smiley

We set up our stall close to lunchtime in the beautiful surroundings of the deer park - though I doubt many of the deer could read and would buy my books. The weather was fantastic and although the event wasn’t as busy as we had first anticipated we managed to sell 60 books within three hours. Not a bad effort considering we had to endure constant heckling from the ex tigers and their families.

Tuesday 2nd July we handed £501.00 to the Royal British Legions Byng House in Southport. Not only is the Legion grateful to everyone who purchased the book but so am I. A fantastic effort.

‘Not my Fathers Apprentice’ the story of my life as a Junior Soldier is back from the Editor and I'm currently looking at their suggestions for amendments. Someone else suggested I just cut out all the words and leave the pictures - anyway they've got some time to re-think that while in hospital.

And Now for Something Important!!!

From Friday 11th July 2014 for Five Days, 'White Knuckle Airways', the third book in the BOAR series is absolutely free to download from Amazon. So no excuses!

It just leaves me to say a big Thank You for your continued support.
